Vision for Schools Initiative Held in Edo State The Vision for Schools initiative, a newly introduced program aimed at promoting eye health awareness and advancing knowledge of the optometry profession among young people, was successfully held in Edo State. The program focused on educating secondary school students on the field of optometry, the vital role of optometrists in eye care delivery, and the importance of maintaining good ocular health through regular eye examinations and early detection of vision problems. Following the educational session, an eye screening exercise was conducted for the students to assess their visual status and identify individuals who may require further eye care intervention or referral. The initiative represents a significant step towards fostering eye health awareness among secondary school students while inspiring interest in optometry as a profession and promoting a culture of preventive eye care within the community. As a national initiative, Vision for Schools is expected to be implemented in other states across Nigeria, extending its impact and contributing to improved eye health awareness and access to eye care services among students nationwide.
